As well as providing all of the usual general practice services, there will be a focus on bringing health and wellbeing to people with busy, active lives who cannot necessarily always find time to attend their own GP practice.

Worcestershire Primary Care Trust (PCT) is now working with the Elgar Healthcare to develop new ways of providing healthcare services across the county, which could include nurses going out to community centres.

Dr Adam Thompson, who was a founding director of Elgar Healthcare, said: “My co-director Dr Charlie Harris and I are delighted that the PCT has given us the opportunity to work with them to deliver this new service for Worcestershire."

Dr Harris is currently a full time GP at the Berwyn House Medical Practice in Worcester and Local Medical Director of Elgar Healthcare Ltd. During his 8 ˝ years as a GP principal at Shrubbery Avenue he has helped the practice to achieve high QOF scores and active participation in practice based commissioning. Dr Harris has also worked part-time for the Worcester Out of Hours Service since 1999.

Dr Stephen Grant
Elgar Healthcare Limited - Senior Clinical Services Director

Dr Stephen Grant has been working in general practice since 1990 and he is currently a full-time GP at the Abbey Medical Practice in Evesham. He has a particular interest in the fields of cardiology, diabetes, rheumatology and pharmacology. Dr Grant is practice lead GP for coronary heart disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, prescribing matters and is also responsible for the practice dispensary. He was responsible for setting up and running the Vale Medical out-of-hours Co-operative and was the Worcestershire LMC representative on the MTRAC committee.

Malcolm Sampson has extensive experience in business management and development.  He has a particular expertise in the development of GP Walk-In Health Centres.

Gill Yip

Gill Yip has over 20 years' experience in the private and public sector.  She has worked in the NHS for over 13 years in both clinical and management roles which incorporates acute, primary care and GP surgery environments.
