GP-led Walk-in & Health Centre (WIHC)

As well as providing all of the usual general practice services, there will be a focus on bringing health and wellbeing to people with busy, active lives who cannot necessarily always find time to attend their own GP practice.

Worcestershire Primary Care Trust (PCT) is now working with the Elgar Healthcare to develop new ways of providing healthcare services across the county, which could include nurses going out to community centres.

Dr Adam Thompson, who is director of Elgar Healthcare, said: “My co-director Dr Charlie Harris and I are delighted that the PCT has given us the opportunity to work with them to deliver this new service for Worcestershire."

Elgar Healthcare offers flexible GP locum packages reflecting the different needs of our practice clients with tailor-made assignments (i.e. duration of clinic and with/without visits). We also provide GP Locum cover for other NHS and council projects. Our clients can be confident in the quality of our locums, all of whom have gone through our thorough vetting process.

Our clients can be assured of reliable and good quality GP locums. Our vetting procedures are thorough and you will provided with a profile for the appointed GP locum prior to each assignment.

Our locums

We have local locum GPs who understand the health needs of the local population and the workings of the local health economy and referral network. We welcome GPs to register with us as locums not only from the Worcestershire area, but also our neighbouring counties of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Shropshire and Warwickshire..

In order to register as a GP locum with Elgar Healthcare we will require to see the following documentation:

  • GMC certificate
  • Medical indemnity certificate
  • CRB check (less than 3 years old) If this is not available then we will apply for our own CRB disclosure (for which there is a charge)
  • PCT inclusion letter
  • JCPTGP / PMETB / nMRCGPs
  • CV (including 2 referees)
  • Date of last appraisal
  • Passport photo
  • Hepatitis B immunity status
  • List of clinical computer systems with which you are familiar
